New York Times & WPF: New Way to Get the News
Nathan Dunlap (a designer on the wpf team) just posted about some of his work with the New York Times on this project.
Jeff Maurone (a pm on the wpf team) posted Friday. He plans a series of posts about The New Newspaper.
Nick Theusen (a developer working on the Times Reader) gives his take.
Update 5/2: Transcript of the event just went live and you can watch the video: http://www.microsoft.com/billgates/speeches/2006/04-28ASNE.asp (I’ve been told the discussion of Reading and the NYT Reader demo starts about 23 minutes into it…)
Update 6/21: Kevin Gjerstad demos the Times Reader on On10.
A few other interesting articles about this project and the announcement on Friday:
- Seattle Post Intelligencer’s New Way to Get the News
- Joke about Bill and cost of New York Times
- Highest resolution photos of the app in action
- Microsoft’s Press Release about this app.
Among other features, this project leverages some of the great Flow Document support that WPF has for an improved reading experience.
I’m excited to see how people take this announcement and the product (once they can try it themselves)…
